Coaching Philosophy   

Coaching is about taking time for yourself to reflect, assess, change, and grow in the direction that best suits your wants and needs.  We hire accountants to help with our taxes; we also hire coaches to help with our growth and big picture journey.  

 

One of the most significant shifts our clients experience is learning how to back away from their own thinking and thought patterns, and assess how they could be better served.  You don’t necessarily have control over your first thought, but you do over your second thought. 

 

We can focus together on achieving more skill, life balance, and contentment.  We’ll be both your partner, mirror, and devil’s advocate.

 

We always strive to be flexible and provide a customized roadmap for each individual’s specific needs.

Coaching isn't covered by insurance, but may be tax deductible in certain cases. Your employer may pay for coaching or reimburse you depending upon their policies and professional development budget.

Assessing Improvement & Change

  • Quantitative: 

    • Self-assessment across multiple levers at various times throughout your coaching. 

    • Peer assessment across multiple levers at various times throughout your coaching. 

    • Optional apps that measure volume, pitch, etc (for voice and executive presence only). 

  • Qualitative: 

    • Ongoing recordings (for voice and executive presence only).

    • In-the-moment unsolicited feedback from colleagues, family, and friends. 

    • Your changing inner feelings, confidence, and auto-pilot narratives. 

 

Best Practices: Before Each Session

  • Do you have any questions to share with your coach? 

    • For example, did you have homework that you found difficult?

  • Do you have any updates to share with your coach?

    • For example, did you have a key meeting with a stakeholder that went well that you want to share?  Or perhaps you experienced a difficult situation that you’d like to solve? 

  • Try to take 5 minutes right before your session to get into the coaching and development headspace.  Unplug from your last meeting or the stresses of the day. 

 

Best Practices: After Each Session

  • Try to take 5 minutes right after your session to write down or clean up any of your notes.  (And not to worry, your coach will send notes after your meeting as well.) 

  • Complete your homework.

  • Have consistent practice - shorter, more frequent practice of your new thought models or skills is more beneficial than fewer and longer practice sessions. 

 

Scheduling

  • We embrace flexibility and do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs.  Meetings must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. If this is not met, then the session will be considered as complete and paid in full.

 

Other Policies

  • You will need access to Google Hangouts, Zoom, FaceTime or phone for coaching sessions. You must have access to a private area and the ability to sit, stand, and move freely.

  • Sessions must be used within 6 months of purchase; except for 6 month packages which should be used within 12 months of purchase.

  • Programs can be completed virtually (over Zoom or your preferred platform).  Or, they can be completed in person depending upon a) COVID-19 outbreaks and travel restrictions, and b) travel stipends provided to the Espeland Enterprises team.  Please contact us further to discuss in person programming. 

  • Individual sessions (1-on-1 coaching with an employee) must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. If this is not met, then the session will be considered as complete and paid in full.

  • Workshops or team coaching must be canceled or rescheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.  If this is not met, then the session will be considered as complete and paid in full.

  • Services must be used within 6 months of purchase.
